Preserving Community Character
Routt County has been discovered. And the decisions we make now will determine our quality of life into the future.
As your County Commissioner, I will work to grow our County intentionally, directing density to where it is most appropriate and best supported by existing infrastructure while also preserving our natural and cultural resources.
Growth and conservation can be compatible. I’ve worked collaboratively to make it happen. As the Executive Director of the Tucson Audubon Society, I worked on the award-winning Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, a plan that is described as…
“Balancing the conservation and protection of our cultural and natural resource heritage with our efforts to maintain an economically vigorous and fiscally responsible community.”
For this work, I was recognized by The Honorable Congressman Raúl Grijalva who spoke my name into the record of congress.
As your County Commissioner, I’ll listen to what Routt County residents want. They’ve spoken through the Routt County Master Plan. I’ve been preserving open lands and protecting water resources for the past three decades, often bringing together unlikely partners like multi-national energy corporations and conservation groups for beneficial outcomes.
In addition, my local work in water resources has helped me develop a thorough understanding of our ranching community and what we need to do to maintain working agriculture. I will continue my career-long tradition of collaborative land use planning as your County Commissioner.
